Tableau | How do I add a dashboard filter?
Requires a Tableau Creator License
- Open a Worksheet in your Tableau Dashboard
- Locate the field you wish to use as a filter in the Data pane
- Drag and Drop the field into the Filters section
- Example: Data Source Filter
- This will open a pop-up window
- Select Use all
- Click Ok
- Example: Data Source Filter
- Click on the Filter dropdown
- Select Apply to Worksheets
- Follow to type of the other filters based on the icon
Sheet icon = Selected Sheets
- Select all the sheets the filter should apply to
- You can find this list by editing an existing filter
Database icon = All using this Data Source
Double Database icon = All using Related Data Sources
- Add the filter to Context (if needed – follow standard of existing filters)
- Click on the Filter dropdown
- Add to Context
- The Filter will be gray when in context
- Return to your dashboard page
- Select a visual and click the more arrow
- Select Filters
- Click the filter you want to add
- Locate the filter on the dashboard
- It will either in at the top or bottom of the page
- Drag and drop the filter to desired location
- Select the filter and Click the More arrow
- Multiple Values (dropdown)
- Only Relevant Values
- Customize > Show Apply Button
- Edit Title > Format to standard title
- Multiple Values (dropdown)
- Repeat steps 8-13 on all dashboard pages
