Shopify | Order Transaction Standard Dataset

This article details the dataset structure that Alight Analytics considers standard for the Order Transaction dataset from Shopify. There is a 1 day lag with a 30 day span that will be run daily. Please note that it may take up to a few days for transactions to be populated in this dataset.

This dataset can be automatically activated without a ticket through Dataset Activation.

Field Type Description
Report Date Date The date the transaction was created.
Created At Datetime The date and time the transaction was created.
Order ID Datetime The ID for the order that the transaction is associated with
Transaction ID Timestamp The ID for the transaction
Amount Timestamp The amount of money included in the transaction
Kind Dimension

The transaction's type. Valid values:

  • authorization: Money that the customer has agreed to pay. The authorization period can be between 7 and 30 days (depending on your payment service) while a store waits for a payment to be captured.
  • capture: A transfer of money that was reserved during the authorization of a shop.
  • sale: The authorization and capture of a payment performed in one single step.
  • void: The cancellation of a pending authorization or capture.
  • refund: The partial or full return of captured money to the customer.
Gateway Number The name of the gateway the transaction was issued through
Status Number The status of the transaction. Valid values: pendingfailuresuccess, and error
Message Number A string generated by the payment provider with additional information about why the transaction succeeded or failed
Source Name Number The origin of the transaction. This is set by Shopify and can't be overridden. Example values: webposiphone, and android
Currency Number The three-letter code for the currency used for the payment
Insert Date Timestamp ChannelMix Field: when the row was inserted into the dataset
ChannelMix Profile Dimension ChannelMix Field: the ChannelMix Profile associated to the data
