Keys | Importing Default Configuration and Creating a Sample Key
Want to know how to import a default configuration in the Keys user interface and create a Sample Key for campaign tracking? Look no further!
First things first, you will want to go to your ChannelMix login screen and then sign in with your username and password. Once you’re in the ChannelMix Control Center, go ahead and click on the drop down menu in the upper right corner of the page. This drop down menu will allow you to select a client from the list that you want to configure Keys for.
To access default configurations, you can select the Keys Admin section on the left side of the control center. Once you’re in the Keys Admin section, you can select the import configuration button. Then a drop down menu will appear, and you will be able to click on the Keys Starter Kit option and click import.
When you click import, ChannelMix is going to display a warning that your actions will override any existing data. Since there are no current Campaigns set up you can confirm and continue.
The Keys Starter Kit will fill in default sources and default fields for each level of the Keys hierarchy—Campaign, Subcampaign and Source.
Now let’s create a Sample Key. In order to create the Key, you will need to set up a new Campaign, Subcampaign and Source. You will see the option to create a new Campaign and Subcampaign. This is where you can fill in the appropriate information such as your Campaign name, Campaign description, cost markup, etc. (Note: be sure to fill out all of the required fields.)
After you fill out all the necessary information in the Campaign and Subcampaign default configuration, you can select the source your client is using. Your Source will be something like Google Ads, Facebook Ads, etc.
Now, you have all the tracking set up and onboarded for Keys with your sample Campaign, Subcampaign and Source configured. With all of that information sorted, you can save your configuration.
You will have access to your Campaign by clicking on the Keys button on the left section of the control center. When you click on the Campaign you need to retrieve the Key for, a pop-up will display all the Keys associated with the Subcampaigns and Sources for that Campaign. From here you can copy the Key and provide it to your client with instructions regarding how to add a Key value into your campaign.
You got this!
