Data and Processing | What's the difference between "Save" and "Save & Activate Dataset" in ChannelMix Control Center?
When connecting or reconnecting to a data source in the ChannelMix Control Center, you are given two options: "Save" and "Save and Activate Dataset".
But what is the difference?
When connecting to data, there are two steps:
- Establish a connection to the source (the Connect page)
- Activating datasets related to that source (The Library page).
When to use "Save"
If you are reconnecting an established connection that just lost access, simply click "Save." You more than likely already have the datasets activated. We just need a valid connection to continue pulling data.
Likewise, if you only want to establish a connection because maybe you aren't sure which datasets you need to activate yet, you can select "Save" and return to the Library page later to continue the activation.
When to use "Save and Activate Dataset"
If you are creating a brand new connection and are sure you have no data associated with that data source, then you can select "Save and Activate Dataset." This action will save your connection and send you to the library page to activate the proper datasets, step 2 of the process above.
