Row Level Security Overview
What is Row Level Security (RLS)?
Do you want to be able to control what dod your client or your workworker sees? You can do so with ChannelMix's Row Level Security (RLS).
For example, in the image below, User ID 1 is the only user that can see that row of data. They are unable to see the names of other users or any data tied to other users.
How does RLS Work?
All client OneViews for an agency level are combined into one MasterView (Note, this can also be done for a brand if they have multiple business units separated into different clients within ChannelMix Control Center).
Next, ChannelMix creates a dataset where we provide a list of all Client Names using data from the database.
Lastly, we use this newly created dataset to pull data from our Tableau repository to assign a client to a Tableau user name.
Lastly, we use User functions within Tableau to control access based on the datasets created above.
What is Required for RLS?
ChannelMix implemented RLS requires the following:
- Dashboards hosted on reporting.channelmix.com
- MasterViews
- A Tableau Viewer license for each client.
