Source Statuses Explained
Active Source
An active source is a source we currently maintain and audit.
Stale Source
The criteria for a Stale source is:
- Any source that has not been used for at least 6 months OR
- Any source for which we have no access to documentation OR
- Any source for which we do not have the required credentials for testing
ChannelMix classifies a source as Stale to indicate that we have not been able to confirm that the source performs as expected. API's are constantly changing and undergoing breaking changes. That means that anytime a source goes unused and untested for an extended period of time, it is likely the source has undergone a change that we are unable to account for ahead of time.
Stale sources are still available to ChannelMix clients but will not be activatable. Instead, attempting to activate a Stale source in C3 will generate a support ticket for ChannelMix.
In order to return a source to the Active state from Stale, we will require credentials for testing (if not already available) and access to documentation (if not publicly available). An Integrations Engineer will be in contact to gather the appropriate documentation and research any changes to the source that occurred while it was in the Stale state. Then, we will schedule any required work to bring the source back to Active status.
Retired Source
The criteria for a Retired source is:
- Any source that has been stale for at least 6 months OR
- Any source that has been discontinued by the provider
In order to provide clients with a reliable experience using popular sources (Google Analytics, Facebook Ads, etc.) and generalized sources (Google Sheets, Email, etc.), ChannelMix can not support every custom source on the market. Retired sources are those sources for which we've seen very little adoption. Once a source is moved to the Retired state, it can only be brought out of retirement in the most extreme of circumstances.
If you have data from a Retired source you'd like to load into ChannelMix, we would be happy to provide support via a generalized source. ChannelMix provides Google Sheets and File Uploads for flexible input, Emails for automated reporting, SFTP connections for secure data, and many other generalized sources to ensure we can ingest data no matter the circumstance.
