Google Keyword Planner | Keyword Performance Dataset
Below are the fields that ChannelMix considers standard for the Google Keyword Planner Keyword Performance dataset. This dataset will always pull the last 12 months of data aggregated monthly for the keywords and geo target specified in the ChannelMix profile connection. The API does not allow data to be backfilled any further than 12 months in the past. The daily schedule for the profile pulls the last 12 months of data at 2:30 AM CT.
Important Notes:
- Data is aggregated monthly. A report date is provided in the dataset, but will always be displayed as the first day of the month.
- When selecting "--ALL GEOS--" in the connection, the API does not provide data segmented by each geo location and instead simply aggregates all geo locations (i.e. you will not see United States, Canada, Mexico, etc. in the dataset; you will just see "All Geos" in the geo target field). This dataset can be automatically activated without a ticket through Dataset Activation.

Report Month | String | The month the activity occurred. |
Keyword Text | String | The keyword text used to segment the data. |
Close Variants | List of Strings | A list of the keywords closely related to the Keyword Text. |
Geo Target | String | The geo location (usually a country) used to segment the keyword data. |
Competition | String | This can be “LOW,” “MEDIUM,” “HIGH”, or NULL (if there isn’t enough data). This reflects the number of advertisers bidding on this keyword relative to other keywords. |
Competition Index | Decimal | The percentage of available ad spots that are typically filled. The higher the number, the harder it’ll be to earn a spot. |
Avg. Monthly Searches | Decimal | The average number of searches for the specified keyword and geo target per month. |
Top of Page Bid Low | Decimal | The lower end of what advertisers have historically bid for the top ad spot. This gives you a rough idea of the minimum cost per click in this ad space. |
Top of Page Bid High | Decimal | The higher end of what advertisers have historically bid for the top ad spot. This gives you a rough idea of the maximum cost per click for this keyword. |
Monthly Searches | Decimal | The number of searches for the specified keyword and geo target per month. |
Insert Date | Timestamp | Internal use: when the row was inserted in the table |
ChannelMix Profile | String | When needed, distinguishes between Google accounts, keywords, and/or geo targets (contents defined by ChannelMix). |
