Google Analytics standard datasets updated to provide deeper analytics
Starting April 1, 2019, you will see changes to the standard Google Analytics Event, Page and Session datasets in ChannelMix Control Center.
It's part of an effort to make ChannelMix's user-activated datasets even more powerful and easy-to-use.
This update will not affect existing datasets within your database — only newly activated ones.
What's Changing?
- For all three datasets — Event, Page and Session — the field User Type will be replaced with Default Channel Grouping. This will allow you to see the rule-based groupings of your traffic sources (direct, email, referral, social, etc.) to get better insight into performance.
- In the Session dataset, the metric New Users will be added.
- In the Event dataset, you’ll also see Page Path replaced with Campaign.
Every new standard Google Analytics Event, Page or Session dataset activated within ChannelMix Control Center will be in this new format.
What If I Like the Old Way Better?
These changes will allow for deeper analytics and improve the value of these datasets.
However, if you would prefer to use the previous version of these standard datasets, you can do so by submitting a ticket to the ChannelMix Help Center requesting to opt out of this update.
