Google Analytics | How do I grant ChannelMix permission in Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager?
Purpose
This article will explain the steps required to grant users access to your Google Analytics (GA) and Google Tag Manger (GTM) accounts.
Difficulty:
No developer required.
Google Analytics - Universal Analytics
- Login to Google Analytics using Admin credentials
- Navigate to Admin > User Management
- Click the plus ("+") to expand, then click "Add users"
- Enter the email address for the user you wish to add
- Choose a role for the user and click Add to finish
Google Analytics - GA4
The instructions for adding a new user to a GA4 property are the same as Universal Analytics with one exception: on the final step you have the option to restrict user access to data regarding cost and revenue.
Follow the steps for adding a user on a UA property and consider whether or not the user you are adding should have access to cost, revenue data. Update those restrictions as needed. Adding these restriction will make cost and revenue data unavailable to that user in GA reports.
Google Tag Manager
- Login to Google Tag Manager using Admin credentials
- Navigate to Admin > User Management
- Click the plus ("+") to expand, then click "Add users"
- Enter the email address for the user you wish to add
- Choose Account and Container permissions for the user
- Click "Invite" to send an invitation to the user
Inviting ChannelMix
Google Analytics - Please invite ChannelMix to your GA Property by granting Editor level access or higher (Admin). Cost and revenue data should not be restricted as this data must be upload to a larger dataset for ChannelMix dashboards.
Google Tag Manager - When adding ChannelMix, please grant Editor access or higher (Publish). Editor access allows us to preview the tracking configured in the container before it is published, an important step in validating the implementation.
